Hip-Hop has increased popularity lately before it has been brought in to the forefront of globalization. With the development of technology, Hip-Hop has become more special and easy to spread out globally. Even though there are two sides about the globalization of Hip-Hop, it is a reflection of the growing phenomenon occurring all over the world. Nowadays, the Hip-Hop phase was so popular among young people, as well as it impacts to our younger generation. However, have everyone known about the origin and history of Hip-Hop? Through this research I hope it could help everyone to have a better understand the concept of Hip-Hop. The origin of Hip-Hop is fascinating. For some reasons, it is truly a complicated issue. According to Jessica Koslow, ââ¬Å"The term Hip-Hop was appeared in the ââ¬Ë40s when African American would say they were ââ¬Å"Hip-Hoppingâ⬠when they went out on the town. In fact, Hip-Hop culture appeared in the late 70ââ¬â¢s decade ago, is a genre of music and culture that has come from working class derived from the Bronx, New York City. According to Melissa Velasco, ââ¬Å"Hip-Hop is an art form that stemmed from the New York area in the early 1970s. Hip-Hop was originally created by underprivileged youth as an emotional outlet and expression of the artistââ¬â¢s realityâ⬠. Moreover, Hip-Hop is developed primarily among African Americans and Latino Americans. Afrika Bambaataa, who is considered as the father of the genre, first launched four major elements of Hip-Hop culture which includes MCing (rapping people), DJing (the mixer), Graffiti Artist, and Breaking (dancer). Also, there are some other important factors such as beatboxing, Hip-Hop style and slang. However, Kool Herc was instrumental in the creation of Hip-Hop, who brought the Jamaican traditions of ââ¬Å"block partiesâ⬠and ââ¬Å"Toasting and Boastingâ⬠to New York City and these traditions helped introduce Hip-Hop to the streets of New York City. Since beginning to emerge in the Bronx, New York, Hip-Hop movement now has spread around the world. Hip-Hop has impacted many different countries culturally and socially in positive ways. For multiple young generations, Hip-Hop has directly reflected the political, economic, and social reactions. When Hip-Hop music genre emerged, it must be based on the DJs, the duty created by swirling rhythms on their special plate. Later, Hip-Hop and rap is often accompanied with beatboxing. According to Dance Articles, ââ¬Å"Hip hop as a culture was further defined in 1983, when Afrika Bambaataa and the Soulsonic Force released a track called Planet Rock. Instead of simply rapping over disco beats, Bambaataa created an innovative electronic sound, taking advantage of the rapidly improving drum machine and synthesizer technologyâ⬠. In addition, Hip-Hop culture was formed out this energy of creativity, liberating struggle, and musical nexus. Hip-Hop is an art form, lifestyle, communication tool for human rights and peace rooted in an ancient culture. As four major elements to make up Hip-Hop including: the rapper, the DJ, the graffiti artist, and the b-boy. A person may be just one of these, but can also be all four. Rap stands for rhythmically, accentuated poetry, and it refers only to the genre of music. A disc jockey (DJ) is a person who mixes recorded music for audiences. Graffiti artist is known as writing, tagging and aerosol art which is a message or drawing created, most often illegally, on a public surface. The link between Hip-Hop and graffiti evolved as a competition, much like the dance moves of the Hip-Hop culture. .ua8cd3699509ed706bd05baaad61cc120 , .ua8cd3699509ed706bd05baaad61cc120 .postImageUrl , .ua8cd3699509ed706bd05baaad61cc120 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .ua8cd3699509ed706bd05baaad61cc120 , .ua8cd3699509ed706bd05baaad61cc120:hover , .ua8cd3699509ed706bd05baaad61cc120:visited , .ua8cd3699509ed706bd05baaad61cc120:active { border:0!important; } .ua8cd3699509ed706bd05baaad61cc120 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .ua8cd3699509ed706bd05baaad61cc120 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .ua8cd3699509ed706bd05baaad61cc120:active , .ua8cd3699509ed706bd05baaad61cc120:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .ua8cd3699509ed706bd05baaad61cc120 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .ua8cd3699509ed706bd05baaad61cc120 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .ua8cd3699509ed706bd05baaad61cc120 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .ua8cd3699509ed706bd05baaad61cc120 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .ua8cd3699509ed706bd05baaad61cc120:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .ua8cd3699509ed706bd05baaad61cc120 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .ua8cd3699509ed706bd05baaad61cc120 .ua8cd3699509ed706bd05baaad61cc120-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .ua8cd3699509ed706bd05baaad61cc120:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: What is popular culture?
